學校概況
倫敦政治經濟學院（LSE）在英國獨樹一幟，是唯一將教學與科研集中在社會、政治、經濟科學領域的頂尖學校。學院于1900年成為倫敦大學University of London的一部分，今天的LSE是倫敦大學最大的學院之一。目前學生總人數超過7000名，其中約一半為來自150個國家的海外留學生；LSE擁有一個龐大的海外學生團體，校友包括國會議員、貴族議會議員、26位世界各國政府現任或歷屆首相。

LSE位于倫敦市中心國會大廈（著名的Big Ben）旁，介于西區與金融城之間，大英圖書館、倫敦大學議會圖書館近在咫尺，距離該學院不到一英里就是主要的政府、法律、金融和傳媒中心所在地---這些機構才是該學院“真正”的研究對象。LSE共有18個系、26個研究中心或研究所，開設有經濟、數學與統計、歷史、法律、哲學等多種社會科學專業。LSE在經濟學領域曾有五名諾貝爾獎獲得者，發展了最具權威的經濟理論,許多對全球政治、經濟、社會發展有影響的思想、政治體系均源于LSE。

LSE圖書館——英國政治經濟科學圖書館是學校的工作用圖書館，同時也是全英研究資料收集中心、世界上最大的經濟和社會科學圖書館之一，館內共藏400萬冊社科開架圖書以及專業課程教材可供學生借閱；學生可以使用超過550臺計算機，其中大部分全天24小時開放；超過90個學生俱樂部為學生提供多樣的社交、體育與文化興趣活動。另外，作為倫敦大學的一員，全體學生都可以享用倫敦大學的設施，包括醫療和牙科、咨詢服務；學生會擁有酒吧、咖啡館、健身館和游泳池。
 
學院特色
1、LSE的學位證書的學位證書由倫敦大學University of London頒發，某些學位課程也與倫敦大學的其他學院聯合開設。
2、LSE作為世界領先的社會經濟研究中心之一，在以往的教學品質評估中，LSE的經濟歷史、信息系統、法律和社會政策等專業均獲“Excellent優秀”，在最近的研究評估中，LSE有13個領域獲得5分或5*的好成績。在2003年英國Times大學評選中，總體排名第四。
 
LSE是歐洲管理學院委員會（CEMS）的成員，就讀管理類本科可攻讀更高的CEMS碩士學歷，并在另一歐洲國家完成部分學習和實習。LSE有270萬英鎊的入學獎學金支持特別優秀的學生，還有專門針對中國學子的“中英友好獎學金”（針對攻讀博士研究學位）以及“渣打銀行獎學金”（針對攻讀碩士學位），名額有限。
 

入學條件
最低英文成績要求：
本科：雅思7.0或托福627（機考263），或劍橋英語水平考試證書
碩士：雅思6.5或托福603（機考250），法律類課程則需雅思7或托福627（機考263）
部分課程甚至要求GRE或GMAT分數研究碩士/博士：持有相關碩士學位者
碩士： 大學相關本科畢業，GPA至少3.5（總分4分）
本科： 重點高中畢業優秀學生；大學一二年級優秀生可插讀LSE二年級。
 
 
Introduction to the LSE 
 
One of the UK's more high-powered academic institutions, the London School of Economics is hard to get into and enjoys an international reputation. The Webbs founded it in 1895 to promote "the study and advancement of Economics or Political Economy, Political Science or Political Philosophy, Statistics, Sociology, History, Geography, and any subject cognate to any of these", thanks to the will of a rich Fabian, Henry Hunt Hutchinson. Its social purposes were based on those of American and continental schools and universities where political, social and economic problems were seen as ripe for study.
The LSE's courses still reflect its origins: among those that enjoy a particularly good reputation are accounting and finance, law, economics and international relations. It is a breeding ground for politicians, and has arguably done more to shape the political world than any other university: as well as countless MPs, LSE has educated world leaders including John F Kennedy.
LSE's location in the heart of London makes it a powerful draw to overseas students: in 1997/98, 61% of students came from overseas. It is close to the City of London, the West End and Soho. But beware, living in London is expensive.
