    Newcastle University is a member of the elite Russell Group, an association of leading research-intensive UK universities. Our research and teaching have a 'real world' focus and a survey by the Higher Education Funding Council for England found that we spend more time working with businesses than any other UK university.     Facilities
    The University Library service ( www.ncl.ac.uk/library) is offered through three libraries - the main Robinson Library; the Walton Library (Medical and Dental); and the Law Library. Together they provide more than one million books, 5,000 printed journals and a huge number of electronic journals and books.

    The University provides fully networked computer services via computer clusters located throughout campus. Cluster rooms are open each weekday and selected clusters are open for extended hours at weekends, including one which is open 24 hours.

    The INTO Newcastle University Centre ( www.ncl.ac.uk/langcen/index.htm) offers a number of services for international students including: an English Language Testing Service; a Language Advisory Service; free English classes for international students who have met the University's English Language requirements and are registered on a degree programme, but who still need further language support (in-sessional English); a range of fee-paying English language programmes for international students who need to improve their English language skills in order to be admitted onto a degree programme at Newcastle.

    The University also provides an excellent range of social activities through its students' Union (www.unionsociety.co.uk), and sporting facilities through the Athletic Union and the Centre for Physical Recreation and Sport ( www.ncl.ac.uk/cprs ).

    Taught Courses
    The University awards a range of degrees which are not only highly invaluable for your career development, but also provide an excellent foundation for research degrees. They include Master of Arts (MA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Education (MEd), Master of Law (LLM) and Master of Science (MSc). Postgraduate Diplomas, Certificates (eg Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) and other qualifications are also offered. The latter are designed for various purposes, such as training for students wishing to change discipline, upgrading knowledge within a discipline, and preparing for a Master’s degree programme.     Research Programmes
    Research degrees are available at both the doctoral level (PhD) and Masters’ (MLitt, MPhil, MMus, MRes) levels. We will support you in your studies by providing you with comprehensive training in both generic skills and competencies associated with your personal and career development, alongside specific skills needed for your research project.
